Living On Pins And A Knife Edge

Pen, oil pastel, acrylic paint, and original collage on paper, 42 × 59.4 cm, 2025

'Living On Pins And A Knife Edge' captures a little of what it's like to live with Dravet Syndrome — a life that is beautiful, loving, and full, yet incredibly unpredictable.

The pins, knife, hearts, and other imagery in the piece show how our home life exists in a delicate balance, where joy, love, tenderness, and routine coexist alongside anxiety, stress, grief, and uncertainty.

For us as a family, this is our normal: navigating each day with care and seeking happy, meaningful moments while always on edge and on call. It is about holding that tension and living fully in a life that, like any, can change in an instant.
