The Colour Of Small Talk

Pen, acrylic paint, and original collage on paper, 38 × 55 cm (image), 42 × 59.4 cm (paper), 2026

This artwork grew out of noticing the little exchanges that unfold within shared routines. Often dismissed as insignificant, small talk can create a sense of belonging, offering connection without expectation and familiarity without weight. We are linked not by deep conversation, but by familiar phrases: comments about the weather, the season, or the day ahead. It is a shared human language that doesn't need to lead anywhere in order to matter.
