Now, Where Was I?
Original artwork.
I began Now, Where Was I? about a year ago, starting with pen, oil pastel and acrylic paint and allowing the composition to develop organically. Halfway through, I put the work aside and then returned to it later, adding layers of collage, new motifs and details to bring it to completion.
The title refers to the way our thoughts can wander, jump from one thing to another, become interrupted and circle back again. Interestingly, the composition developed in much the same way, with ideas and visual elements leading to unexpected connections and new directions. Thoughts don't always follow a straight path; they can become muddled, take unexpected turns, or even appear back to front. Rather than following a predetermined plan, I allowed the work to unfold through a process of exploration, distraction and return.
